Carrying On in Ealing

Due to a late change of venue, we found ourselves at the George IV pub, a couple of miles from Ealing, in Chiswick.
This was only one of several changes to usual events. This time we weren't only celebrating the Carry On films, but also the other comedy films made by the director & producer partnership of Gerald Thomas and Peter Rogers.
Another difference to the usual schedule was that we had the autograph session before hearing from our special guests on the panel. This itinerary switch went without any problems, almost as if we'd always done it this way.
All the guests had a wonderful time. From Hollywood royalty like Juliet Mills and husband Maxwell Caulfield, to Carry On royalty and friends of the Inn Larry Dann, Anita Harris and Jacki Piper. Also returning to the Whippit Inn was veteran of nine Carry On films, Billy Cornelius. This was his third time as a guest.
A first time visitor was Liz Gold, who appeared in Up the Khyber alongside Kenneth Williams. However, whether it was one film or nine films, the love we have for these Carry On stars is shown in equal measure.

And not only Carry On stars. The other three guests who attended were just as warmly received, having appeared in films which weren't in the series but were made by Peter Rogers and Gerald Thomas. These were Jonathan Kydd (The Iron Maiden), Christopher Witty (No Kidding) and Amanda Reiss (Nurse on Wheels and Twice Round the Daffodils)
Also on hand to share his wealth of knowledge about the Carry On films and more, was author Ian Fryer. Ian was happy to discuss the films, and sign his latest book, "Carrying On" about the films of Peter Rogers and Gerald Thomas.
