An early teaser for our return visit to Brighton.

It was back to Brighton and the New Madeira Hotel for our 2008 event. A stellar line-up of comedy favourites graced the afternoon with their presence.
Bernard Cribbins, one of the nation’s most beloved performers, entertained with stories from his leading roles in three Carry On films; Jack, Spying and Columbus. Although not unexpected given the whopping list of his film and television credits, the chat and q&a with Bernard touched on all manner of subjects. We were even treated to a brief impromptu performance of Hole in the Ground.

Margaret Nolan, with Bernard Bresslaw and an impatient Kenneth Cope, on Brighton's seafront in Carry On at Your Convenience
With prolific roles in two Carry On films, and countless other television and film productions, Kenneth had a fund of stories. From starring roles in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and Coronation Street, to writing episodes of The Dustbinmen and That Was the Week That Was, it was a joy to listen to stories from Kenneth’s illustrious career. |
It was a thrill to bring Kenneth Cope and Margaret Nolan back to Brighton, to the location where they once walked as Vic Spanner and Popsy in Carry On At your Convenience. |

It was a rare chance to meet Margaret Nolan, who had been out of the limelight for many years. In 2008, Margaret re-emerged onto the autograph signing circuit, and this occasion gave us a wonderful chance to get a rare insight into her colourful life and career.
Margaret featured in many iconic scenes, in six Carry On films, and it really was a unique treat to spend time with her and hear some of her Carry On memories. |
Sadly, Margaret passed away in September 2020, aged 76. A much loved star, and a fabulous person, she will be greatly missed.

Sitcom favourite Albert Moses completed the panel. Despite only appearing in two scenes in Carry On Emmannuelle, Albert gave us so much joy with his comedic medical diagnoses of Kenneth Williams and Suzanne Danielle.... in the film that is..... His real-life stories were much more scandalous. As with the other guests, Albert had a fascinating career in the industry, and was more than happy to tell us about his other ventures, including two James Bond films and producing a later series of his acclaimed sitcom ‘Mind Your Language’.
Very sadly, Albert passed away in 2017, aged 79.
We can never forget how much fun we all had on that day in Brighton. Thank you Albert.
